outgoing Chinese ambassador conferred Hilal-e-Pakistan award

Islamabad: Pakistan has conferred Hilal-e-Pakistan, civil award, to outgoing Chinese ambassador Sun Weidong for his services to bring Pakistan and China closer.

The award was conferred on the Chinese ambassador by President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain during a ceremony held at the President House attended by top officials of the government.

Hilal e Pakistan is highest of civil awards by the Government of Pakistan for the highest decree of services to the country and the people.

Addressing the ceremony President Mamnoon Hissain said that Pakistan and China were iron-brothers and their friendship was touching new heights.

Acknowledging the services of Ambassador Sun Weidong, President Hussain said that Pakistan and China have witnessed historic expansion in their bilateral relations during the last four years. “I hope that this warmth will continue to further grow”, the president said.

The president said that this period will always be remembered as a golden era of Pak-China relations. He also expressed his best wishes for success and progress of Ambassador Sun Weidong.

The outgoing Chinese ambassador said that he was fortunate that the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project became a reality during his tenure in Pakistan. He also thanked the government and the people of Pakistan for the honor and love he got during his stay in the country.

Sun Weidong last month paid farewell calls to Speaker of National Assembly of Pakistan Ayaz Sadiq and Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

In his meeting with Ayaz Sadiq, he said during his stay in Pakistan, he has found Pakistanis friendly, peace-loving and resilient who have withstood the test of time.

He assured the Speaker of National Assembly that he would keep on portraying true image of Pakistan during his next diplomatic assignment.

During his meeting with the army chief, the ambassador acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan Army’s contributions for peace and stability in the region and pledged to keep working for better relations between the two friendly countries.
