The upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival, a traditional festival in China, has gained popularity overseas, bringing huge business opportunities, China News reported on Sept. 22.

According to Spanish media ouhua.info, a Cheongsam show and social gathering was held in Spain for overseas Chinese to celebrate the traditional festival in advance.

The website zaobao.com also reported that lantern-shaped decorations will be lighted up to celebrate the Mid-Autumn festival at Singapore’s Chinatown.

South Korean media says that employees at the Chinese Embassy in the ROK and nearly 80 pupils and their parents watched an animated short film on the origin of the festival, as well as learned to make the moon cakes.

Foreigners also celebrated the traditional Chinese festival.

Hu Huiling, a Chinese woman who married her foreign husband in Los Angeles several years ago, said that they spend the festival together every year, as a form of respect for each other’s culture, uschinapress.com reported.

In addition, a shopping event will be held to celebrate the festival from Sept. 28 to Oct. 4 in San Francisco’s Chinatown, according to the local media.

Chinese business owner Li Tailai noted that his shop is expected to see an increase in turnover by a quarter to one third during the period.
