Beijing’s tourism administration questioned five five-star hotels caught in sanitation scandal on the morning of Sept. 5. Popular hotel brands including Hilton, InterContinental, JW Marriott, and Shangri-La are involved in the scandal, according to the administration’s official Weibo account.
The five hotels, which reportedly operated without changing bed sheets and disinfecting toilet bowls, have been ordered to carry out inspections and take measures to improve management and service quality.
Regular inspections of hotels will be strengthened to tackle such problems and to guarantee service quality, said Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development.
The hotels caught in the scandal said they have started inspections and promised to further standardize processes and keep a closer eye on guestroom cleaning, the Commission said.
