The 2017 national single bamboo drifting competition holds in Duyun, southwest China's Guizhou province from August 22-25, chinanews.com reported on August 17.
Single bamboo drifting is a useful daily skill amongst Guizhou ethnic groups. Drifters stand gracefully on a single bamboo trunk, rowing with another thin strip of bamboo with balance and unique techniques.
It has been listed in the third batch of Guizhou province's intangible cultural heritage and one of China's ethnic minority games.

More than 300 people in the host city are fans of this sport, making it a new highlight in ethnic sports events.
The upcoming 2017 national single bamboo drifting competition will be co-organized by the local government and related departments. A total of 16 delegations and 136 athletes from all over the country will compete in the single bamboo drifting races.
