According to an announcement released by airlines on Wednesday, the flight, which is the first rescue flight arranged by China’s civil aviation, has sent professional disaster relief personnel and supplies to the region and will ferry as many tourists as possible on its return. As of press time, all of the company’s flights to and from Jiuzhaigou County are not affected by the earthquake, while the company has already evacuated 387 tourists.

Other national airlines, including Air China, have also promised to keep running their existing flights to Jiuzhaigou, in an effort to help the people in need. Air China has issued an announcement, noting that it has prepared to send rescue flights for disaster relief.

The 7.0-magnitude earthquake, which took place in Jiuzhaigou County on Tuesday, has led to 19 deaths as of press time. Among the victims, at least five were visitors to the popular tourist destination of Jiuzhaigou, the epicenter. Though there are quite a few residents living around the area, it is a popular national park that attracts a large number of visitors.
