China launched the first smart logistics express project in Maoming, Guangdong province. A “cable rail + shuttle robots” pattern will be used to achieve nationwide same-day delivery and city-wide one-hour delivery.
The project was completed by Guangdong iBosst Ltd. According to its chairman, Ma Yasheng, a 15-km long cable rail was built to carry unmanned shuttle robots whose automatic driving system and backstage automatic digital control allow them to turn and shunt, making it possible to deliver parcels quickly and cheaply.
“The smart logistics express system provides a pilot solution for supply innovation in the logistics industry,” said Ma. “With soft wirerope tracks and smart technologies, it satisfies four future requirements – “flexibility, punctuality, fast speed, low cost.”
