45,000 civilian drones in China under real-name registration

A total of 45,000 civilian drones in China had been registered under real names by June 12, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) at a June 13 conference. The civil aviation regulator believes that the achievement is satisfactory, and that it will promote better management in the future.

Tough measures have been taken to protect registrants’ information, said Wang Jingling, deputy director general of plane airworthiness under the CAAC. Wang noted that worries over information leaks are absolutely unnecessary.

China’s registration of civilian drones started in May after a total of 326 civil aircraft flights were disrupted by drones. These cases indicated that unregulated civilian drones could pose a threat to the safety of civil aviation.

Wang noted that some registrants didn’t register with correct personal information. She said that honesty is an essential quality, and called upon registrants to provide the right information.
