Student applauded for bowing to man who escorted him to college entrance exam venue

Recently, photos of a student delivering a 90-degree bow went viral online, with many people gushing that the sincere gesture reflects very well on the young student.

The student, surnamed Li, was about to be late for the national college entrance exam, or gaokao, on June 8, before he was picked up and driven to the exam venue by a random driver. The student said a deep bow was the only thing he could think to do to express his gratitude.

After picking Li up, the car moved slowly because of heavy traffic. The driver therefore proceeded to call the traffic police for help. In no more than 10 minutes, a traffic police officer arrived and escorted the car to Li’s exam venue at Shuangliutang Middle School in Chengdu, Sichuan province.

“I was on my way to work when I saw a student waving to me. I pulled over and learned that he was going to be late for the exam. I decided to pick him up because punctuality is essential for a student taking such an important exam,” the driver, also surnamed Li, said.

Thankfully, the younger Li arrived at the exam venue at 8:47 a.m., 13 minutes before the start of the test.

“Incidents like this one happen every year,” the traffic police officer, Cao Shuang, said. This year was Cao’s eighth year of escorting students to gaokao venues around the city.
