Marvel’s creator and writer, Stan “The Man” Lee, will soon work as chief creative officer in a new company, as Lee’s Pow! Entertainment has been purchased by a Hong Kong-based Chinese company.
The Hong Kong group, Camsing Global, announced on May 11 that a deal had been inked between its Camsing International Holding Limited and Pow! Entertainment, guaranteeing that Lee would stay in his role as CCO under the new company structure.
“I am enthusiastic to continue with the next chapter of my career and to be involved with the continued development and production of so many of the new projects that we developed while at Pow! Entertainment,” Lee said in a statement. “The Camsing merger will provide additional resources for development of these projects and access to new markets. Ultimately this will enhance and create additional opportunities for fans of the genre around the globe to enjoy the superheroes that we have created over the last few years. Excelsior!”
Luo Jing, chairwoman of the board of Camsing Global, said the company believes that the purchase yields obvious business cooperation benefits, linking Camsing’s strong distribution and intellectual property-related capacities to Pow!’s abundant intellectual property pool.
Luo said that Lee’s world-renowned creativity and experience can also help boost China’s intellectual property in the realm of comics, as well as its product development skills, China News Service reported.
Camsing has previously cooperated with multiple international brands, including Disneyland, Blizzard and Warner Bros.
