China has rejected U.S. Present Donald Trump's claim that the U.S. has lost 60,000 factories since China joined the World Trade Organization (WTO).
"Since joining the WTO, China has actively carried out cooperation that not only promotes the growth of its foreign trade, but also promotes the growth of world trade, making important contributions to global economic development," said Geng Shuang, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, on March 1.
"Win-win and mutual benefits define China-U.S. economic relations. A report by the United States-China Business Council shows that bilateral trade and investment created about 2.6 million jobs for the U.S in 2015. We would like to work together with the U.S to keep deepening and expanding China-U.S. economic cooperation. This will benefit the two peoples and the world," Geng continued.
Trump made the claims about American factory losses during his March 1 speech to Congress.
