On Feb. 12, a couple in Taiwan shared a 142-minute embrace at a kissing competition, eventually taking home the championship for the second time. The winning couple, together for five years, went through seven rounds of competition to ultimately win the top prize.
The event includes several interesting rounds. In the first round, for example, one partner has to hold the other up in the air; those who are able to maintain their kisses in this position for half an hour pass through to the next round. To make the task easier, many of the female competitors took off their shoes and extra layers of clothing to make themselves lighter.
Competition was fierce, with five couples remaining in the final round. It took an additional two hours and 22 minutes to determine the champions. Another notable aspect of this year's competition was that it featured three gay couples vying for the title.
