
Earlier reports covered that Wang Qi, a Chinese Sino-Indian war veteran, has been trapped in India for half a century, and looks forward to going back to China. Zhao Jun, director of the Consular of the Embassy of China in India, made a response to it on February 1st, 2017.


According to Zhao, the Embassy of China in India is aware of Wang’s situation and has maintained close contact with Wang, his family, and the relevant Indian authorities in regards to this case. Zhao believes that with the joint efforts of China and India, the case will be resolved satisfactorily .


As reported by BBC Hindi journalist Vineet Khare on January 31st, 2017, a few weeks after the Sino-Indian war broke out in 1963, a Chinese army surveyor, Wang Qi, was taken prisoner in India. Since then, he has been unable to leave India and is still eager to reunite with his family in China.
