A video clip featuring a pair of lovestruck geese has become an internet sensation.
At the beginning of the video, a goose with its legs bound is placed on a truck. It stretches its neck and honks, trying to approach the other goose on the ground. Standing still and gazing up at the goose on the truck, the goose on the ground looks mournful, as if keenly aware of its loss. When the video is about to end, the goose on the ground suddenly jumps, trying to stay near the one on the truck.
On Jan. 5, a reporter for Modern Express contacted the maker of the video, Mr. Qi, who operates a goose farm. Qi said the video was shot before New Year's day. The geese are actually swan geese, ancestors of the domestic goose.
On that day, Qi was going to deliver a pair of swan geese to a client in another city. The unexpected scene unfolded as he was loading the male swan goose onto the truck.
"The female swan goose stood beside the car, unwilling to let the other goose leave," Qi recalled.
Qi later uploaded the video online. To his surprise, it received over 1 million hits in just a few days. Touched by the devotion between the geese, Qi decided to keep them together on his farm. After regaining freedom, the geese tried to avenge their keeper. In another video Qi provided, the geese can be clearly seen chasing him. One even bit his clothing.
"It might blame me for trying to sell them," Qi explained.
