Though China's Foreign Ministry has refuted rumors that the country's media watchdog set restrictions on Korean dramas, movies and TV shows, South Korean media reported that the government still feels uneasy, and is now watching the situation closely.
An ROK government official said on Nov. 22 that several Korean pop concerts are being held in China as scheduled, though some are banned. He added that the ROK government is keeping a close eye on the situation and will take countermeasures if needed, according to the Yonhap News Agency on Nov. 22.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said he has never heard about any such restrictions, emphasizing that the Chinese remain positive about cultural exchanges with South Korea. However, he also mentioned that China is against South Korea's decision to deploy the U.S.-made Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missiles.
