The administration of Hegang in Heilongjiang province announced on Nov. 21 that a recent estimation placed the deposits in Luobei County's Yunshan mine, the largest graphite mine in Asia, at over 1 billion tons.
According to statistics, the total amount of graphite reserves in Heilongjiang province accounts for 64 percent of all reserves in China and 45 percent of all graphite reserves in the world. Known as the capital of graphite, Luobei County is the largest graphite-abundant region in the province, which gives it an advantageous position in the graphite industry.
Through several years of research and exploration, the 6th Geological Research Institute has figured out the amount, location, quality, mining conditions and machine technology of the Yunshan graphite mine. They have also provided a detailed report describing further potential explorations and utilizations.
