With the arrival of the fourth World Toilet Day, which falls on Nov. 19, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development has released new standards for public restrooms in cities.

To shorten wait times for women’s restrooms, the standards demand that the ratio of women's to men's public toilets be increased to 3:2. The ratio will be further boosted to 2:1 in high-traffic areas. The new standards will take effect on Dec. 1.
