Beijing cyber security police have arrested eight suspects who were accused of spreading child pornography through the "dark network" online, Beijing News Radio reported on Nov. 7.
The so-called dark network refers to information that cannot be searched through formal search engines like Baidu. Most of the information is related to pornography and/or violence.
The case was uncovered through routine inspections by Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Some Chinese netizens were found posting child porn and lewd information, from IP addresses located in Beijing. The U.S. then sent the information to China's Ministry of Public Security.
