Thousands of nails weighing 2.3 kilograms were picked up by police after a number of drivers lodged complaints about their cars being stabbed by the sharp objects.
The incident occurred the night of Oct. 30 on Ding Mou Road in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province. To avoid further damage, police first sent signals to reroute traffic along alternative routes. By midnight, police had retrieved all the nails.
The accident site reportedly covered an area of 800 square meters. The incident is currently under investigation, according to reports on Oct. 31. The person in charge of the investigation revealed that the accident was likely not intentional, given how diffusely the nails were scattered.
