A man from Yanzhong, Sichuan province traveled all around China with his 5-year-old son in just 200 days. The man, named Pang Chuanxing, took the opportunity to visit old teachers, friends and relatives who had helped him during the past 40 years of his life. Pang wanted to model love and appreciation for his young son.
Firm in his belief that concentration leads to achievements, Pang decided to take his son, an art enthusiast, on a trip around China. He said the trip was intended not only to develop his son's painting skills, but also to widen the child's horizons.
Departing from Chengdu on May 8, Pang and his son traveled 43,000 kilometers through 23 provinces, five autonomous regions and four municipalities. Pang also donated nearly 30,000 yuan to charities over the course of their 200-day journey.
Before the trip, Pang made a list of about 1,000 people that had helped him in life, and planned the route based on the addresses of people on that list. Though Pang and his son were only able to visit 120 people in the end, the trip was still a great experience. Because of a change in schedule, the pair's allotted time for visiting several mountains was reduced from two weeks to one. However, his son rose to the challenge without any complaints, and even encouraged his father. Pang said the trip turned his son into a tough and resilient boy.
Some people doubted Pang's unconventional education, but he ignored these detractors, arguing that the purpose of the trip was simply to help his son understand more of the world.
