A pedigreed cat competition organized by the Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA) was held in China's southwestern municipality of Chongqing on Oct. 23. At the event, 175 cats of more than 30 breeds participated in the competition.
The CFA was founded in 1906 with the goal of preserving pedigreed and crossbreed cats. It is currently the world's largest registry of pedigreed cats. As one of the highest-profile pedigreed cat contests in the world, the CFA competition is held more than 400 times each year around the globe.
The competition in Chongqing was judged by 11 professionals who spent almost two days examining the cats. One of the judges, Bob Zanda, said that their final evaluation would be mainly based on carriage, fur and health.
"We want to present a high-standard competition for cat fanciers," emphasized the organizer of the event.
