Hua, a 32-year-old woman who was abducted when she was 15 years old, finally reunited with her family on Oct. 11, after 17 long years.

Hua used to live in Jinjiang, Fujian province before she was abducted and transported to Guizhou province. She dropped out of school at the age 15, spending a lot of time at home. She therefore got to know the people renting the house next door - construction workers, including a man named Cheng. Cheng eventually lured Hua to Guizhou province, and then forced her to marry his brother, a 30-year-old man.

Hua wrote a letter to her family in 2011, enclosing her new address and asking a friend to deliver it. But her friend didn’t pass the letter along until recently. After the true events were revealed, police quickly located Hua. The long-awaited family reunion was everything that Hua and her family had dreamed of for so long.
