The Terracotta Warriors, a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the army of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China, is an internationally recognized cultural relic.
The original warriors are delicately formed with excellent craftsmanship, but in the “Eight Wonders in the World” exhibition center in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, a number of fake warriors with painted-on mouths and eyes are on display.
Inaccurate translations were also found in the center. Both the "enhanced" sculptures and incorrect translations puzzled some foreign visitors. Though complaints have been filed with the local tourism administration, employees at the center demonstrated no intention to fix the errors.
