Chinese police are investigating a human trafficking case after a 12-year-old girl was brought to a hospital in Xuzhou City, China’s eastern Jiangsu province, for a pregnancy test. Police in the Tongshan district of Xuzhou city confirmed on Sina Weibo that the girl is a victim of human trafficking, and the two adults who accompanied her to the hospital were arrested and under investigation.
A very young-looking girl was brought to a hospital accompanied by a 35-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman on October 4th. The two told doctors that the young girl was 20-years-old and needed a pregnancy test. The test revealed that the girl was indeed 12 weeks pregnant. But her young appearance attracted the attention of her doctor, who then told the two adults to wait outside. In a one-on-one conversation, the doctor asked the girl a few questions and was convinced that she was underage and possibly a victim of human trafficking. The hospital rang the police after the man and woman accompanying the girl threatened to “bomb the hospital for the doctor asking too many questions”.
The girl was later revealed to be just 12-years-old and was abducted from her hometown in southwest China. The police said a further investigation is underway.
