A Chinese woman named Xiang Liping who lost both of her arms at the age of four has now become a mother and lives her life with optimism.
Xiang comes from western Hunan province. She lost her arms due to an electric shock incident.
The huge economic burden coming along with the disaster made Xiang's parents leave their home for urban jobs. Without the caring of her parents, Xiang learned to take care of herself. She started to do things with her feet ever since such as making shoe-soles and embroidery.
In addition, she would also help her grandparents, with whom she lived, with daily chores as often as possible. She could almost do everything just as regular people do with her feet except putting on clothes.
Because of her disability she has never attended school. But she even recognizes more Chinese characters than her brothers did, according to her grandmother, since she had the classes outside the classroom after sending her brothers to school.
In 2013, Xiang went to Guangdong, where her parents work, and reunited with her family.
Apart from assisting her mother doing chores, in spare time Xiang always surfs the Internet where she met her Mr. Right, Zheng Chuanrong from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. They got married and their daughter was born early this year.
Now Xiang, with her husband and baby, as well as her parents and two nephews, are living in a shabby house they rent in Guangdong. At present her husband is jobless, and her father, who earns 4,000 yuan ($ 600) a month, is the only person in the family with an income.
Even so, she is living her life with optimism. According to Xiang, her biggest hope now is to have a pair of artificial arms and get a job just as normal people do.
