A 28-year-old woman has recently become known and recognized for her optimism while battling cancer. After being diagnosed with breast cancer, the woman, Zhou Lin, stayed strong by recording her experiences in a diary. After the dairy was posted online, her story touched many netizens.
In late June of last year, Zhou was diagnosed with breast cancer by a hospital in Sichuan province. Soon after, she lost both her job and her love—her boyfriend broke up with her the month after her diagnosis.
As an unmarried woman, it was hard to reconcile herself to the mastectomy of her right breast at the end of July. However, for Zhou, the chance to live always came first.
Subsequent treatments were also torture for Zhou. After six rounds of chemotherapy and 25 rounds of radiotherapy, the skin on her neck began to come off. In addition, Zhou’s family spent about 200,000 yuan on the treatment, half of which had to be borrowed from relatives.
Even so, the tough young woman was not beaten by the economic burden, nor did she remain inconsolable after her relationship ended. On the ninth day after her mastectomy, she chose to share her experience with cancer on social media, and decided to keep a diary to record her ordeal.
She wrote in her diary: "Even though I can still feel pain after the operation, everything is going to get better. This is the best. I feel grateful for my parents' care."
Her diary was later posted online by friends. Within three days, it had been read tens of thousands of times. Many people have been touched by Zhou’s optimism, saying that she deserves many good things after weathering such a tragedy.
