Chinese President Meets American Guests
Chinese President Jiang Zemin met Thursday afternoon with William B. Harrison, chief executive officer of the America-based J.P. Morgan Chase and Co.
Jiang briefed the guests on China's economic development and the opening and reform policies. He pointed out that with China's sustained economic growth and the imminent accession into the World Trade Organization, more business opportunities will emerge for American enterprises including J.P. Morgan Chase and Co.
He hoped that J.P. Morgan Chase and Co. actively develop its business in China and take part in China's modernization, so as to contribute to the improvement and development of the Sino-U.S. relations.
Harrison expressed appreciation for China's great changes over the past 20 years, saying that his company and he himself will continue to help promote U.S.-China relations and the exchanges in the financial field between the two countries.
