A mail containing white powder was found Wednesday morning in the British Embassy in China and examination of the powder is still underway, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhu Bangzao Thursday.

Zhu said that at about 11 am of Wednesday, the visa division of the embassy received a mail from an unidentified sender, in which a note in English and a paper package with white powder were discovered.

The embassy reported it to the police and the local police and quarantine departments immediately sent people to the scene, said Zhu.

The police is investigating the case, quarantine workers have taken measures against possible pollution, and the powder is being tested, the spokesman noted.
