Migratory Birds Festival Scheduled for East China

A migratory bird festival is scheduled for Nanchang, capital of east China's Jiangxi Province, for May.

The one-month festival, located in Tianxiang Park in the eastern part of the city, will be open to both domestic and overseas tourists.

Experts on migratory birds will also be invited to attend the event, according to sources with the organizing committee.

The 13-hectare park, built only five years ago, attracts some 100,000 migratory birds of 32 species every May and June, including cranes and swans.

Nanchang, with a population of 1.7 million, is near Poyang Lake, China's largest freshwater lake and a popular home for migratory birds during the winter.
