Three Robbers Given Death Sentence
Three principal offenders charged with robbery were recently sentenced to death in this capital city of northwest China's Shaanxi Province for robbing and causing the death of a tourist from Taiwan.
According to the first ruling of the Xi'an Intermediate People' s Court, six young men from central China's Hunan Province knocked to the ground Zhou Hetian, a tourist from Taiwan, and robbed him of his camera, a wrist watch and 1,100 yuan in cash at Lishan Forest in Lintong District on May 13, 2000.
Then the gang pushed Tian over a mountain slope. On the afternoon of the following day, Tian died.
The three principal culprits were Lu Benqun, 21; Wang Xiaoming, 21; and Zhu Pingdong, 17. The other three members were sent to a reeducation labor camp because they are below the age of 14.
