Modern Chinese ballet awes Danish audience
In the world of the arts, Denmark is well known for classic ballet performance. But on Friday, the residents of Copenhagen were treated to a new kind of ballet - the modern Chinese ballet.
The troupe performed "The Red Detachment of Women", and is the first time the play has been staged in Europe. The story tells of how a Chinese girl extricates herself from slavery and becomes a strong fighter with the help of the Communist Party.
Danish audience said: "It was beautiful, something very special, something different from Danish ballet."
The troupe performed in Turkey before moving on to Denmark. The visit has been hailed by critics and the public as an important exchange between East and West. It was their first performance in Copenhagen, and the Troupe is said to have taken Denmark by storm.
