BEIJING, Jan. 31 (People's Daily Online) -- A Foreign Ministry spokesman on Thursday urged maintaining regional peace and stability following an Israeli airstrike that hit Syria on Wednesday.
Spokesman Hong Lei made the remarks in a regular press release.
Israeli warplanes evaded radar and bombed a military research facility in the suburbs of the Syrian capital of Damascus on Wednesday, the general command of the Syrian military said in a statement.
Hong said China hopes relevant parties will avoid making any moves that may escalate the current tension in Syria.
