MADRID, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- "China is an important partner on world level," said Spanish Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism, Jose Manuel Soria recently at an award ceremony held to recognize the efforts of those who have contributed to relations between Spain and China.
"Thanks to their work, bilateral relations will be increasingly intense and will improve on all levels, year by year," said Soria at the ceremony for the Global Asia prize which took place at Club Financiero de Genova.
He added that next year will see the celebration of the 40th anniversary of relations between the two countries and that Spanish Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy plans to visit China in the first quarter of 2013.
The eight winners of the prize include Zhu Bangzao, the Chinese ambassador in Spain, who won the "Diplomatic Prize" and Feng Junwei, chief correspondent of Xinhua News Agency's office in Madrid.
Zhu stressed that "intense and continuous efforts are being carried out in both countries to continue improving bilateral relations."
The Global Asia Awards brought together over 150 business and institutional personalities from Spain, China and Latin America with the aim of building a "bridge of understanding between the Chinese and Spanish speaking worlds."
Global Asia is a group of Spanish businesspeople which is dedicated to serving as a "bridge of knowledge between Asia and the Spanish speaking world." It produces the only Spanish and Chinese bilingual magazine on the market, the Global Asia Magazine.
