PHNOM PENH, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said here Sunday that the relationship between China and Cambodia has set a good example of friendly ties between neighboring countries.
Wen made the remarks during a meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.
The comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation between China and Cambodia has witnessed rapid development in recent years, Wen said.
The two sides have treated each other with respect, mutual trust and strongly supported each other over issues bearing each other's core interests, Wen said.
China and Cambodia have also strengthened coordination in regional affairs and safeguarded common interests, which not only benefits the two peoples but also contributes to regional peace, development and prosperity, Wen said.
The two sides should make a success of next year's events marking the 55th anniversary of bilateral ties and speed up efforts to work out an action plan for China-Cambodia comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation, the Chinese premier said.
China will continue, as it has always done, to offer Cambodia support in socio-economic development and the improvement of the Cambodian people's well-being, Wen said.
China will also work to increase practical cooperation with Cambodia and encourage more Chinese enterprises to invest in Cambodia, he said.
Hun Sen noted that China has rendered Cambodia firm support and valuable help in its effort to safeguard national independence and sovereignty, as well as in economic development.
Cambodia is willing to make concerted efforts with China to take the opportunity of the 55th anniversary of bilateral ties to expand economic and trade cooperation, increase people-to-people exchanges and push bilateral friendly ties to a higher level.
Premier Wen arrived in the Cambodian capital Sunday afternoon to attend a series of meetings for East Asian leaders and pay an official visit to the country.
