A woman's dog was bitten to death by hornets in Shunyi district Sunday, reported the Beijing Evening News Monday.

The woman, surnamed Song, found her dog on the floor with a nasty bump on its face. The dog died an hour later. Firefighters discovered two nests in her seventh-floor apartment and sealed them off.

Song said she knew the nests were there, but thought the hornets would die off in the cold weather.
