Beijing schools will start winter long-distance running next week, reported the Legal Mirror Monday.
Many schools had halted running outside, alleging that cold weather may "hurt" student runners. Ma Shouliang, director with the sports and health center at the Haidian district education committee said Monday that schools cannot arbitrarily cancel students' winter outdoor activities.
"But when the air condition is so serious that it will harm health, schools can suspend winter running. The activities should be resumed when air quality improves," said Ma.
