VLADIVOSTOK, July 12 (ChinaMil) -- "China-Russia naval joint exercise has a bright prospect and broad space for development," expressed Duan Zhaoxian, executive exercise director of the Chinese side in the China-Russia maritime joint exercise codenamed "Maritime Joint Exercise - 2013" and deputy chief of staff of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLAN), on July 11, 2013.
Duan Zhaoxian said that in the whole process of the exercise, the navies of China and Russia have made great strides in the development of strategic mutual trust. As this kind of exercise is entering into the phase of normalization and institutionalization from now on, the capabilities of the PLAN will become increasingly strengthened in various aspects.
Speaking of the future development of China-Russia naval military exercises, Duan Zhaoxian said that the next step for China-Russia naval joint exercises is to solidify the mechanism, deepen the contents, broaden regions, and optimize the organization of the joint exercises.
"The region of joint exercise is likely to extend to remote high seas; the contents, organization and procedure, exercise documents and logistics support of the joint exercises will be further improved," said Duan.
