BEIJING, July 12 (ChinaMil) -- Wu Shengli, member of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and commander of the Navy of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLAN), met with Choi Yoon-hee, the visiting chief of staff of the Navy of the Republic of Korea (ROK), on July 11, 2013 in Beijing.
Wu Shengli expressed that the navies of China and the ROK have made progress in recent years in such fields as high-level contacts, escort cooperation and exchanges among academies, opened navy-to-navy direct phone line and further strengthened pragmatic exchanges and cooperation. The PLAN is willing to make joint efforts with the ROK navy to seek closer cooperation, expand areas of cooperation, uplift levels of cooperation, further enhance mutual trust and develop friendship, so as to make contributions to peace and stability in the Northeast Asian region and constant development of relations between the two countries and the two militaries.
Choi Yoon-hee stated his hope of taking this visit as a turning point to constantly maintain exchanges and cooperation, so as to push forward the development of the bilateral relations.
