Fang Fenghui holds talks with supreme commander of Thai armed forces

BEIJING, June 26 (ChinaMil) – General Fang Fenghui, member of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), held talks with General Thanasak Patimaprakorn, the visiting supreme commander of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, on the afternoon of June 25, 2013 in Beijing.

Fang Fenghui said that the people of China and Thailand have enjoyed friendly contacts for nearly 2,000 years. For years, the relations between the Chinese and Thai militaries have been developing smoothly, as evidenced by fruitful results from bilateral exchanges and cooperation. Under the new situation, the two militaries are supposed to meet the new requirements of development of the China-Thailand comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, expand cooperation areas and enrich cooperation contents. The Chinese side is willing to further deepen pragmatic cooperation with the Thai side in such fields as strategic communication, personnel exchanges and training, joint military exercises and training, maritime security, multilateral security and so on, so as to push forward the in-depth development of the relations between the two militaries.

Thanasak said that the two militaries enjoy time-honored friendly relations. The important purpose of my visit to China this time is to convey the sincere wishes of the Thai side for further deepening the relations between the two militaries, so as to constantly promote the bilateral military relations to a new high.

Before the talks, Fang Fenghui held a welcome ceremony for Thanasak Patimaprakorn and accompanied him to review the guard of honor of the three services of the PLA.
