Wu Shengli, member of the Central Military Commission (CMC) and commander of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met with Abdullah, the visiting commander of the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO), on the afternoon of January 21, 2013 in Beijing.

Wu Shengli said that Chinese naval escort warships have berthed at Oman's Port of Salalah for many times since the PLA Navy carried out its escort mission in December 2008. The 9th Chinese naval escort taskforce paid an official visit to Oman's Port of Muscat in December 2011 and the officers and men of the Chinese Navy were received with great enthusiasm and thoughtful arrangements by the Omani government and the RNO. It is hoped that the two sides will further strengthen bilateral cooperation in escort missions.

Abdullah expressed that the Omani side attaches great importance to its relations with the Chinese side and will spare no efforts to support and help the PLA Navy in carrying out escort operations.
