The opening ceremony of Circumstance and Ambiguity of Color-China Campus Patrol Exhibition in 2013 by Carlos Cruz-Diez was unveiled last Saturday in the Art Museum of China's Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA).

The 90-year-old Venezuelan artist is one of the greatest artistic innovators of the 20th and 21st centuries.

The exhibition consists of two parts. The first part is Art in Architecture, displaying Carlos' landmark works of architectural art for different countries.

Carlos explained his works this way: "The works that I create in urban spaces and buildings are part of a plastic discourse generated in time and space that creates situations and chromatic events, which change the dialectic between the spectator and the work."

The second part exhibits Carlos' experiments with light and movement, such as chromosatrations, chromatique inductions, addition chromatique, chromo-interference environments and physichromie acts. Spectators with no professional knowledge of the subject matter can experience how time and space change according to the movement of light.

The exhibition is sponsored by the Cruz-Diez Foundation, China Youth Publishing Group and ZBL Et Associates, in cooperation with the CAFA Art Museum, China Academy of Art Museum, Shanghai Institute of Visual and The HKUST Center for the Arts. The exhibition will be on display through April 10.
