To get bigger and stronger, Chinese manufacturing must accelerate the speed of globalization, participate in global market competition, integrate the advantage resources, and speed up the implementation of international standards in the aspects of idea and management.
"Made in China" is not equal to "self-made in China". Although Boeing airplanes are made in the United States, the parts are made in dozens of countries in the world. So Chinese manufacturing enterprises must have an open mind and make full use of world's advanced technology and resources, according to Zhou Jianxiong, deputy to the 12th National People's Congress (NPC) and chairman of the board for Xiangtan Electric Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
Currently, the developed countries face economic dilemma and some companies are short in fund. So Chinese enterprises, with relatively strong capital, can control and apply the world leading technology through mergers and acquisitions.
For example, the Weichai Holding Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Shandong Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., sealed a deal to take a 75 percent stake in debt-laden Italian yachtmaker Ferretti Group last year and entered the high-end manufacturing field of consumer goods.
In addition, Shenzhen-based Radiant Group is the first Chinese private firm to purchase a listed American solar company, Ascent Solar (ASTI.NQ), which manufactures the only thin-film CIGS on plastic substrate and provides unprecedented flexibility and lightweight advantages. Its flexible CIGS solar panels were named one of TIME's 50 Best Inventions of 2011.
Our next step is to introduce these technological achievements to China and push China's solar energy technology to the world's highest level, and then create a world's mature industry chain, according to Xu Biao, chairman of the board for Radiant Group.
"I don't know when the world will change the impression on China's manufacturing industry, but we should continue to make our efforts. I'm sure that in the three or five years to come, Geely's autos will not be inferior to those made by Japan and South Korea, said Li Shufu, member of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and chairman of the board for Zhejing Geely Holding Group.
"What we are doing now is to seek my beautiful pursuit that Chinese made cars can run all over the world, not the world cars run across China", said Li.
