A senior executive of Sany Group, China's leading construction equipment manufacturer, confirmed with the Global Times Thursday that the company will relocate its headquarters from Changsha, capital of Central China's Hunan Province, to Beijing for the purpose of globalization.
He Zhenlin, vice president of Sany Group, said a local newspaper's report of the relocation is true, but would not provide further details.
Sany's administrative departments and three of four core units will be relocated to Changping, a suburban district in northern Beijing. The more than 1,000 employees in the administration, including Sany's executive office and board of directors, will be relocated within two months, Changsha-based newspaper Xiaoxiang Morning Herald reported Thursday.
Three employees at the company told the Global Times that they have heard the news, but have not yet received official notice of the company's decision.
The company has operated industrial parks in Changping district since 2003, an unnamed staff member at Changping's press office said, but he was not aware of the relocation news.
A need to globalize prompted the scheme, just as it did when Sany relocated from Lianyuan county to Changsha in 1992, an unnamed senior executive at Sany was quoted as saying by the Xiaoxiang Morning Herald.
The 1992 relocation was credited by analysts for the company's quick growth afterward and the establishment of a good brand image.
