LONDON, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- The British industry is targeting the Chinese consumers and is racing with its European rivals including Germany and France for the Chinese market, Neil Bentley, deputy director general of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) said in an interview with Xinhua.
"China is one of our premier target markets,"Bentley said on the sidelines of the annual conference of the CBI, a leading British private industry organization.
"We are targeting cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, but the CBI wants British businesses to look for business opportunities in cities like Shenzhen and Chongqing," he said.
"These cities are starting to creep into British business consciences, but there are massive opportunities in cities like that as they rebuild themselves. We want them to understand the scale of the opportunities in cities like these," Bentley said.
His words echoed Chinese vice minister of commerce Zhong Shan who said China and Britain had complementary economies at a seminar on China's opening-up and globalization in London earlier this month
