Myanmar seizes arms, ammunition in Shan state

YANGON, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities seized some arms and ammunition from an abandoned car in Hsenwi, Shan state-north, Monday, official media reported Tuesday.

The seized arms include grenade launchers, automatic rifles, pistols, said the New Light of Myanmar.

The security forces tried to stop the suspicious car for check when it passed a toll gate in Lashio.

However, the car refused to stop and rushed through the gate.

The security forces later found the car abandoned in front of Nasot village monastery with the arms and ammunition on board.

Further investigation led to the uncovering of more arms and bullets outside the fence of monastery.

Police are still investigating the case.
