WASHINGTON, May 9 (Xinhua) -- A concourse of the Miami International Airport in the U.S. state of Florida was evacuated on Thursday after a suspicious package was found, local media reported.

A bomb squad was dispatched and several police vehicles could be seen on the tarmac, according to the local WPLG-TV.

Airport spokesman Marc Henderson was quoted as saying that the package was discovered at about 3:05 p.m. outside the gate of a Caribbean Air flight.

All passengers in the airport's J concourse were evacuated to nearby areas.

The evacuation and police activity caused mild disruption to traffic at the airport, with 10 flights unable to depart and two incoming flights diverted to other gates.
