JERUSALEM, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- Israeli security forces misused crowd control weapons, which left at least ten Palestinians dead in the West Bank since 2005, an Israeli human rights organization reported Monday.
Crowd control weapons are being used in the West Bank against demonstrators and stone-throwers. They are meant to be non-lethal, but they are still dangerous if used improperly, said a new report released by the Israeli human rights watchdog B'Tselem.
According to the report, dozens of Palestinians were seriously injured from these weapons.
"Since the beginning of this year, at least five unarmed Palestinians were killed by live fire, none of them posed a threat that justifies the use of lethal force," Sarit Michaeli, B'Tselem spokesman, told Xinhua.
The weapons which were set out in the report includes teargas grenades, used also in east Jerusalem, and stun grenades -- both of them are imported from the United States.
Rubber-coated metal bullets, manufactured in Israel, are also utilized primarily against stone-throwers. Firing these bullets is prohibited within Israel's borders. While the fourth weapon is the foul-smelling Skunk liquid developed by the Israel Police.
