BEIJING, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- The 120th birth anniversary of former Chinese honorary president Soong Ching-ling was marked on Sunday at her former residence in Beijing.

Officials of the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and members of the Soong Ching-ling Foundation attended the commemoration ceremony and paid their respects in front of Soong's statue at the former residence.

A commemorative stamp album and bookplates featuring Soong's life were released at the ceremony.

Soong (1893-1981) married Sun Yat-sen, the pioneering Chinese revolutionary and political leader, in 1915 and fought for China's independence and liberty. She devoted herself to education and health affairs for children and women after the People's Republic of China was founded in 1949.
