AMMAN, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- King Abdullah II of Jordan urged Sunday to resume peace talks between the Palestinians and Israel, the state-run Petra news agency reported.
The Jordanian leader said it is important to intensify efforts to achieve peace in the region, which will lead to the creation of an independent Palestinian state on the basis of the 1967 borders with east Jerusalem as its capital.
Abdullah II said the Palestinians' joining the UN as a non- member state is a positive step to achieve peace, calling for all regional and international countries to help revive the peace process.
