With regards to the ties with Egypt, which has been cut off for over three decades, Ahmadinejad said the cooperation between Egypt and Iran could "change the equation in the region," announcing that Iran has no obstacles to normalize relations with Egypt and expressing complete readiness to cooperate with Egypt in all fields, including economy, tourism, investment, agriculture and industry.

He denied claims that Iran seeks to replace the United States as Egypt's patron, asserting that any assistance offered by Iran is just to strengthen friendly ties between the two countries who share similar deep-rooted civilizations, cultures and traditions.

The Iranian leader accused Western powers of attempting to block the way of normal relations between Egypt and Iran. He said he sees the future of the Egyptian-Iranian ties "very good" and noted Iran hope to achieve normal relations with Egypt yet it is not in a hurry.
