The stolen goods included cash in a range of currencies -- Chinese yuan, U.S. dollar, euro, Hong Kong dollar and Canadian dollar -- a number of gold and silver products, 31 pieces of jade, 10 watches and 38 bank cards, among other goods, the court said.
Bai's wife reported the robbery, but claimed that only 3 million yuan worth of goods had been taken. Later, an anonymous tipster said the figure was closer to 50 million yuan, prompting netizens to demand a probe into Bai's wealth.
It is suspected that more than 840,000 yuan of Bai's assets were accumulated through discipline violations, the court said Thursday. Among the total, 700,000 yuan of his assets are suspected of being bribes Bai's wife received from her husband's subordinates.
Bai has been removed from his post and received discipline punishments by the Party.
